Gamepoint Youth Program

How Our Program Works

We at Gamepoint are proud to say the youth program we have created is one of the best in Southern California.  Our program provides these young men the opportunity to learn the necessary skills and the mindset to become a competitive basketball player. The standards we stress are: discipline, mental toughness, hard work, perseverance and the importance of education. GP youth players are prepared with skills and endurance training, game strategy and active scrimmages.  Players are frequently assessed and practices are tailored to the individual’s strengths and weaknesses.  The middle schoolers are prepared for advancement to the high school level through tournaments, instruction by high school coaches, mentorship by the high school players and college alumni. All of these factors create a competitive atmosphere that leads to success at the highest level of basketball.

For our San Diego location most of our practices are at Mira Costa College in Oceanside. Occasionally we will practice at a different location in the Oceanside/Carlsbad area and all youth teams practice twice a week. The teams play in tournaments in San Diego County, Orange County and Los Angeles County. Our Elite teams at the 14U and 13U level will play in tournaments in Las Vegas, Phoenix and Portland.

Also, our youth teams will play in a league depending on the season in the San Diego area. Tryouts are held in August, and evaluations and team selections are announced shortly after. Players who come who desire to join Gamepoint later in the year are encouraged to attend practices where our staff will be able to evaluate their talent level.  We will ask the player to attend 2-3 practices for us to properly evaluate their skill set. Our program caters to all levels of players. Players who have a desire and passion to get better are encouraged to join our development program.

The Process

1. After registering, players/families will receive additional information

2. All high school teams have tryouts in early March for the spring and summer seasons*

3. Players are evaluated by coaches based upon their skills, attitude and game play.

4. Youth players interested in joining Gamepoint, but who missed tryouts are invited to 2-3 practices where they will be evaluated.

5. Teams practice 1-2 times per week based upon tournament schedule

*Please note: Due to Covid-19, tryouts, practices and tournaments have been postponed.
